The weather could not have been more perfect for the 61st Hungarian Scout Festival on Sunday, September 4, 2016 held by the Cleveland Hungarian scouts and their supporting organization the American Hungarian Friends of Scouting. About 2,850 were in attendance at this annual event once again held at the nearby German Central Park with its most accommodating indoor and outdoor facilities.
After the flag raising ceremonies (where nearly 200 uniformed scouts stood at attention) and the Sunday church services were completed, the kitchens opened at noon serving up the most delectable Hungarian foods – chicken paprikas, stuffed cabbage, goulash soup, grilled pork steak, fresh sausages, elephant ears (lángos), jam filled crepes, tortes, napoleons, biscuits and ice cream.
Live music, performances by the Hungarian Scout Folk Ensemble, live exotic animal presentations, a market bazaar, folk dance lessons, a book fair, raffle, and kids’ arts, crafts and games kept the crowds entertained throughout the day.
Pictures show a thousand words about how everyone enjoyed the day.
