The American Hungarian Friends of Scouting in Cleveland held its traditional Scout Banquet on February 25, 2024, in the banquet hall of St. Emeric Church. About 300 lunches were prepared for the guests in attendance, for the honored guests, for the scouts who served, and for those who ordered the day’s delicacy for take-out. The menu included Hungarian pea soup with dumplings, chicken Badacsony style with wild rice pilaf, roasted zucchini and yellow squash, and apple linzer for dessert. Special thanks to the head chefs, scout officers Judith Gyorky and Andrea Tábor (Kiki) for their expertise in preparing the luncheon.
Before the meal, our newest scout leaders were introduced who successfully completed a leadership training camp last summer at the Sandor Sik Scout Park in Fillmore, New York. They each received a certificate of appreciation for their good work from Paul Szentkirály, president of the AHFS, and Krisztina Nadas, the Cleveland District Commissioner of the Hungarian Scout Associstion in Exteris. After lunch, several people went home with valuable items and gift cards that they won in the raffle. We would like to thank Dr. Ildiko Bakos, adult scout, who made many of the gift baskets and donated the items inside. A pleasant afternoon was spent by all participants with delicious food and good fun all in support of the Hungarian Scout movement. Thank you!
