The American Hungarian Friends of Scouting’s president, Michael Horvath, was the recipient of the Hungarian Golden Cross of Merit. Tamás Kovács, Hungary’s Counsel General in Chicago , presented the award and the certificate which is signed by the President of the Republic of Hungary, János Áder. Mike Horvath has been serving Hungarians in Cleveland for more than 40 years as a scout leader.

Among many leadership positions, he was a troop scoutmaster for five years, Cleveland District Commissioner for 20 years, AHFS Secretary for six years and is AHFS President since 2016. He was a member of the Executive Council of the Hungarian Scout Association in Exteris for 14 years and is the International Commissioner for the HSAE since 2011.
