The 66th Annual Hungarian Scout Benefit Ball was held on April 29, 2023, at the Woodside Event Center in Broadview Heights, Ohio. Nearly 200 people danced the night away to Walt Mahovlich and Harmonia, who performed popular, classical, and Hungarian folk dances to the delight of the guests. Thanks to the generosity of our guests and patrons, $15,000 was raised for Cleveland’s Hungarian Scout Folk Ensemble, supporting their three-week tour of the Carpathian Basin later this year.

“This year’s Scout Ball was a huge success — in addition to dancing, good cheer, and a delicious dinner, there were many valuable raffle items on offer,” said Marika Megyimori, chair of this year’s Scout Ball committee.  “The audience was delighted with the surprises, which were entertaining and significantly increased the ball’s proceeds,” she added.

The evening included the presentation of this year’s White Stag Award winners, Jutka Szabolcs and Levente Szabolcs.  Jutka and Levente represent the Scouting spirit as pillars of Cleveland Scouting and a fine example of Lifetime Achievement. They have served our scout troops for more than six decades, and as leaders, they have worked tirelessly with the scout troops, at scout camps, the Hungarian Scout Festival, and the Scout Banquet.  In addition to being integral members of the scout troops, they are also active members in the Hungarian community, such as the Hungarian school and various church organizations.
